What is ADSL?

ADSL, short for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line, is an exciting new technology that utilises existing telephone lines for multimedia and high speed data communications in parallel with the regular telephone voice services.

ADSL operates over existing telephone lines. Specialised modems, one at the user end and the other at the Exchange, exploit the physical transmission capabilities of copper lines beyond the frequencies used for normal telephony services to achieve data rate transmission far higher than can be achieved by traditional analogue modems (Currently up to 40 times faster). The asymmetric in ADSL is due to the fact that the downstream (towards the customer) data rate is much higher than the upstream (towards the network) data rate.

What are the Benefits?

ADSL offers download speeds up to 40 times faster than conventional 56k Modems

24 hour fixed unmetered connection

Instant access to email and the web

Simultaneous Internet and phone access

Capable of handling multi user internet access

Why switch to ADSL?

In short it will change the way you do business:

Fast downloads speeds enable you to receive and send large amounts of data. No more waiting for your modem to connect to the web/ISP

Allows your business to be in constant communication with your customers, business partners and suppliers.

Have the ability to view richer multimedia services such as video, animation, audio via your pc.

Correctly set up, ADSL can improve the security of your network by reducing the gateways on to your network.

ADSL is a cost effective means of extending the reach of your Extranet to satellite workers.

Accurately budget your costs with the flat rate fee.

How do I order ADSL?

We will need to check that your local exchange supports ADSL. Follow a link to check the current availability of ADSL in your area:

ADSL availability for telephone number or postcode.

BT's Rollout Information Pages

Prior to installation BT will perform a remote link test to check whether your line is suitable or requires further on-site testing. Installation on suitable lines takes approximately 1 hour. The current lead time for installation is about 3 weeks from time of order.

Contact one of our sales staff and we will help you with your enquiries.
